by pastorpark on February 28th, 2010

Vancouver Olympics – Women’s Short Track Team

by pastorpark on February 26th, 2010

Another Olympics, another short track speedskating controversy involving South Korea.  This time, the women’s short track team was disqualified due to a judge’s decision, allowing China to take the gold in the 3,000 meters.  FYI – WORLD RECORD performance by the Korean women.  Only to be taken away with a DQ by the main judge.

Oh, didn’t I mention the judge was Australian James Hewish, the very same judge who disqualified skater Kim Dong-sung to give Satan himself, Apolo Anton Ohno, the gold in 2002?  Yes, Jim Hewish did it again. The chief referee was in a precarious situation though. The offending bump was obvious, but it wasn’t clear that it should lead to a disqualification. Relays tend to be judged a little looser than regular short track events, so there was thought that Hewish might let the contact go. But after three minutes of deliberation, he decided that the bump had impeded China’s progress.

KOREA WAS AHEAD & IN THEIR LANE!  China in making the turn clipped the rear of the Korean skater.  How do you penalize the Korean skater who is just going ahead in the inside lane?   I believe Olympic Committee should take a look at this judge who seem to have a bias towards Korean athletes.   These young athletes waited 4 years for a once in a life time experience only to be judged unfairly is simply ABSURD!

by pastorpark on February 9th, 2010

Why Sarah Palin should never become the President!

by pastorpark on February 9th, 2010

1. NOT BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN. There are many capable women in politics that can fill the shoes of the presidency.
2. Sarah Palin attended Hawaii Pacific University in the fall of 1982 and North Idaho College in the spring and fall of 1983. In 1984, she attended the University of Idaho in the fall of 1984 and spring of 1985, and attended Matanuska-Susitna College in the fall of 1985. She returned to the University of Idaho in the spring of 1986, receiving her BS degree in communications in 1987.
I’m not saying all of the above schools are good or bad. But a young woman at 18-23 yrs of age, moving from college to college worries me.
3. In 1988, she eloped with her high school sweetheart Todd Palin. Then she had 5 children; Track (b. 1989), Bristol (b. 1990), Willow (b. 1994), Piper (b. 2001), Trig (b. 2008). I can speak from personal experience that having a family at young age and raising 5 children. YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO RUN A COUNTRY!
4. Sarah Palin will be detrimental to the Republican Party. From what I have seen her so far, she really doesn’t know how to be humble nor manage wealth and fame for that matter. I don’t think she will make a good president based on her past and her character up to this point.

Sarah Palin happens to be my age (1964), married about the same time, and had many children at early age like myself. So I know how hard this was for her, just to maintain some normalcy in family life and career. And that is exactly the reason why for the sake of her and her family that she should not run for president.
You might ask why am I writing about a person who is not even running yet? Because not too long ago I believed in a man who I thought would change Washington politics and stand for the people. However, less than a year in office, I have never been more disappointed in my life. I will never vote again based on talk nor charisma. We must all vote for the person who has CHARACTER, PROVEN RECORD, AND EXPERIENCE to lead the greatest country in the world. Only in a third world countries will you see an uneducated, inexperience, young leader coming into power, most of the time by military coup. Our country needs higher caliber leaders!

State of the Union address

by pastorpark on January 29th, 2010

I thought about putting a short thought on facebook but when I began to write it ended up being too long.  I’ve decided to write it on my blog.

1. great speech but didn’t buy most of it … i heard almost all of his national speeches from democ national convention and to me talk is cheap.  he speaks often as a sure thing and he hardly delivered anything he promised.  i voted for him because i believed.  but since then i’ve lost a lot of trust in him and his speeches.

2. attacking supreme court justices, not cool … i was shocked to hear him talk smack about the Supreme Court judges who were sitting right in the front row.  there’s a time and a place for disagreement and even argument but this was no place to talk that way about any branches of the government, he’s the president.

3. i don’t want Obama to be my boss, and temporary jobs are not welcome … he kept mentioning creating jobs but it was all about government jobs like building roads and infrastructure all of which are temporary.  we need long lasting permanent jobs created from the private sector for the public.

4. Mr. Pres. tried to unite the nation, i don’t think it worked … he pled for unity and middle ground but through his sarcasm and humor he managed to divide the nation even more.

5. lastly I’m stretching a bit here but just saw 건국대업 (movie about developments post WWII China).  i couldn’t help but seeing some similarities of Mao leadership and Obama. Mao spoke to and for the poor, who were the majority, in the country.  He brought the leaders under his submission because he had the masses on his side. Mao believed in communism which appears to bring equality to the whole nation but we know communism is not the answer, definitely not the answer.  The next closest thing to communism is socialism and modern liberalism.  I don’t believe in big government – government should stay away from health care, jobs, and education.  Fed govt should give more money and power back to the state level and city level.  the future of our country should be in the hands of all the people not in the government.  middle class people are fed up because we are educated and we have some possessions.  take from the rich and give to the poor is a good thing but if you take from those who barely have (middle class) to the poor does not make sense.  And through big government, corruption and rich will always stay rich (government leaders and all who are connected to them – must see that movie to understand how Mao led the revolution).

if my thoughts offended some, i apologize.  these are just my thoughts and i do care for our country enough to stay what i feel at this time.

by pastorpark on January 20th, 2010

Jr. High Basketball Season

by pastorpark on January 16th, 2010

Those who know Moses, he is my son and who loves basketball … and many other sports too.  He is playing for his Junior High School team, Arcade.  Unlike his parents, he was over 6′ tall at age 13.  He is one of the best players on the district, an all-star player you might say.  If there is one thing that he realizes about this game is that IT IS A TEAM SPORT.  No matter how tall and how strong he might be, he needs all of his friends to play together as a team.  Indeed they are a team, and a good one.  Life is a lot the game of basketball, we all need one another.  How valuable is it to have trustworthy team mates around. Thank you! to all our friends and family!  God bless!

I would like to congratulate Moses and the Arcade Jr. High Team for a great season.  Well done, even though they did not win the championship.  I would like to congratulate one of Living Stone’s other youngster, Heeje and Barett Jr. High with that honor, 2010 Champions in our area.  Congrats!

Retreat 2K9

by pastorpark on January 4th, 2010

19374_700004912445_6401143_40490736_402112_nOnce again I’m very humbled to be part of PCA Retreat 2K9 at Sierra Pines Camp near Lake Tahoe.  In the winter, this is one of the most beautiful places in the world with snow covered mountains and giant pine trees.  In the day time, you cannot help but to gaze at the beauty and the warmth of the sunshine breaking through the snow covered trees.  When evening comes, almost automatically snow falls as well.  Steady and constant snow covers all the tracks we made during the day.  Every morning it seems the whole earth is once again covered with fresh snow.  This reminded me of God’s grace covering our sins white as snow day after day.

We were blessed to have all made it to camp site on time for dinner.  The road was clear all the way to camp.  But the unpaved road off the main highway required chains.  Vans could not climb up the hill to the camp grounds.  So we all parked the car below and walked up the rest of the way.  We’ve all made it to the camp just in time for dinner.  Our prayers have been answered and then some.  As the evening rolled on, God’s grace filled the place of worship!  We didn’t even know time was going by … as 11 o’clock passed and late at night we all went to bed past midnight.

The next day we woke to a beautifully snow covered trees and mountains.  Right after breakfast, we couldn’t wait to get out and try out the snow.  All the sleds and tubes were out in full force.  Every down hill slope was turned into a sledding path.  We never knew how fun snow was … for those of us who haven’t seen snow in a while.  In knee high snow covered slanted field, we played tackle football without pads, GIRLS too.  Four teams competed for several hours to crown the champion (RED TEAM).  What was so amazing about this retreat was that everyone came together anticipating great things … indeed the Spirit of God moved all of us closer together as the days went by.

By the end of the retreat, no one wanted to go home even though they missed the comforts of home and food they haven’t had (asian thing) in a while.  What really amaze me is the fact that the spirit of unity and edification is being carried out beyond retreat.  People are taking this back home to their church and to their community.  It’s been a week and yet the spirit of the retreat still live strong in the lives of young people like it was yesterday.  I’m so confident that greater things will come out of this retreat than anyone imagined!  Praise the Lord!

2010 Year of Blessings through Faith

It is my prayer that in 2010 the church will possess faith beyond ordinary so that blessings will be evident in everyday life and in our community.

God always want what is best for His people.  In other words, God wants to bless you!  In 2010, my prayer for Living Stone family is that they will experience the true blessings of the Lord because of the steps of faith that we take forward.
